Thank you for your excellent care of Moonshadow yesterday.
Knowing that Dr. Miller has an emergency vet medicine background, I was comfortable bringing my 1.5-year-old cat straight to him when I knew she was in danger. I called ahead, ran a red light or two, and got her into an exam room within ten minutes. Everything was explained to me, including visuals, like seeing a normal sample next to my cat’s sample. I was given exact pricing for the workup right away, so I didn’t have the added stress of wondering if I could afford the first stage of my cat’s care. I had heard that vets and vet techs did all the jobs of every team member in the human healthcare system, but it hit home when I peeked through the window and saw Dr. Miller at a microscope, doing the work of a human pathologist.
We came up with a plan, but when Moonshadow got worse and the plan had to change abruptly, I felt comfortable with the recommendation that I have Moonshadow euthanized. Even that plan had to change when her terrible physical condition prevented Dr. Miller or the tech from inserting an IV as usual. Once we had the new plan underway and Moonshadow was finally comfortable and no longer afraid, the very kind tech took good care of both of us while I listened to Dr. Miller doing something I’ve done myself many times – switching back and forth between the crisis and routine care, changing his demeanor seamlessly at the doorway every time he left to examine a healthy happy puppy. Having walked away from many human deaths and gone straight back to my other patients’ routine care, I know it’s not easy, but it’s necessary to keep your other patients feeling comfortable. I know that the tech who stayed with me had to do the same thing after I left, so props to her, too. It was nice to know that the same tech who was at Moonshadow’s first kitten appointment helped her at the end of her life too. They took great care with details before I left, making sure everything was as minimally stressful for me as possible.
In short, I will continue to bring my pets to NCAH, even though I’m about to move half an hour away.
I would also like to congratulate Debbie on her retirement. Anyone reading NCAH reviews will see Debbie mentioned. She was the first face I saw at NCAH, and her effusive kindness is missed by many! – Clare W., September 2024
Recently, my dog suffered from a ruptured tumor and nearly bled to death. Her condition rapidly deteriorated, and after spending a substantial amount of money at an emergency vet, I had to force-feed her blended food and water over the weekend. Unfortunately, her condition showed only slight improvement.
Early Monday morning, I called North Churton Hospital. Despite being fully booked, they asked me to bring her in and promised to see her between their scheduled visits. As soon as they saw her condition, they immediately summoned Dr. Miller, and together we discussed our options.
North Churton Hospital kept her for the entire day and night, administering several rounds of fluids before performing surgery to remove the tumor. Thanks to Dr. Miller and the compassionate team at North Churton, my dog is now healthy and happy.
I found the staff to be incredibly caring, compassionate, affordable, and genuinely concerned for the well-being of my pet. I highly recommend North Churton Hospital for their exceptional care. – Scott N., August 2024
God chooses to work miracles through each of us…thank you again for the small miracle you have given our dog Hope through the extra care and attention you gave us. – Scott and Hope, August 2024
They were the best helping out with my dog on short notice with a copperhead bite. Special shout-out to Sabrina for excellent customer service and being kind and patient with both humans and animals. – Adam L., May 2024, 5-Star Google Review
Dr. Miller has taken care of my and my father’s dogs since he opened his office in Hillsborough. He and his staff are the most caring and professional people. When you go to Dr. Miller, it is much like taking your child to the doctor’s office. He is always attentive and does not rush through things.
One of my foster dogs was injured, and I called the office as I was driving there. they took Zeke immediately and took care of his injuries. I own a rare primitive breed of hairless dog that many vets know nothing about. However, Dr. Miller and his staff know about them and have taken excellent care of them. – Robin M., March 2024, 5-Star Google Review
Dr. Miller is experienced and knowledgeable, a refreshing change from the veterinarian franchises and chains. I thought my dog was dying, and Dr Miller diagnosed him with arthritis, prescribing meds quickly and at a reasonable price. My dog is back to his old self! The entire staff welcomed us, demonstrated their love and compassion for my dog It was well worth the 40 minute trip from Raleigh. – Randy S., December 2023, 5-Star Google Review
Dr. James Miller and his entire staff are extremely compassionate and professional. We were in a dire critical situation when our elderly dog suddenly began dying at home, and we were distraught. I called and was kindly told to come in. They walked us step-by-step through the procedure and allowed us to hold him. It was a comfort that our beloved boy passed with no pain and was given respect, plus was allowed his dignity. Thank you, Dr.Miller and staff, for helping us at such a terrible time of grief. – Betty H., December 2023, 5-Star Google Review
Dear All, I hope that everything is going well! We left our beloved Hillsborough in March 2021 and have settled in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. I’ve been going back and forth with our new vet and it makes me miss, even more, the excellent and kind care provided by North Churton Animal Hospital for 15 years. Every encounter, every visit, every phone call, every request and every emergency was met with prompt, kind and caring results. I am so very grateful for the years of care provided to Penny, Hobbes, Bear, Bodhi, Ridley, Chestnut and Blue. I can’t adequately express my love and gratitude to each of you. I know I’ll never find a replacement but we hope to find something close. We lost Ridley last year to kidney failure but she seemed to enjoy the cool mountain temperatures and snow. She passed in June 2021. Koda Noel, a Colorado Mountain Dog, joined our family in January 2022. Chestnut, Blue and Koda seem to love exploring their 39 acre yard smelling bear, badger, porcupine, bobcat, mountain lion and chipmunks. (Blue treed his first bear without incident.) I wanted to share some photos and send love and best wishes. We miss you!!! – Megh, Tom, Gave, Chestnut, Blue, (and Koda), card above
Dr. Miller and the staff were great with our puppy needing surgery and care. We were happy with their followup calls and service. I would not hesitate to recommend them to care for your pet. – Carolyn N., Google Review
I had my (very large) pig spayed with Dr. Miller and Dr. Mozzachio last year. They were so gentle with my girl. No post op surgery complications. From the front desk to the nurses and doctors, both my pig and I had a wonderful experience. Thank you all for taking such good care of my Rona!!! – Rachel K., Google Review
I am a 2nd generation Dr. Miller devotee. I have heard horror stories about things people have experienced at vets, so when we moved to Greensboro (45 min away) there was no question in my mind we would be making that drive to take our pets to the same vet my parents have for years. I trust Dr. Miller implicitly with my babies and he has never shown anything but kindness, expert knowledge, and the willingness to do anything it would take to care of my animals as if they were his own. I’m so grateful to have wormed my way into his practice via my folks 🙂. Also, it should be mentioned that the first person you’ll see when you go into the office is Debby, who might be the loveliest human alive. She will instantly help ease any of your anxiety or fear. If you could tell from the rest of this review, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Dr. Miller and his team to anyone and will continue to bring our pets here for care. – Annalisa M., Google Review
Amazing service, we had an Emergency early Saturday a.m. with our sweet kitten Lola. We arrive and they immediately took her back and evaluated her. Of note we were not current customers, will be now for sure. Lola was okay, she did use up one of her 9 lives though! Thank you – Pamela P., Google Review
I am a foster for Beautiful Together Animal Sanctuary. Dr Miller and his staff are available any time we have an issue, provide excellent and compassionate care for many animals who have never seen a vet. He authentically loves the animals and will provide what they need in a timely and caring way and explains everything thoroughly. Love this clinic and N Churton and all of the staff! Thank you! – Mimi M., Facebook Review
The staff is EXCELLENT and sweet. They treat my furbaby as if she belonged them. I switched to Dr. Miller when I found out he does the spay procedures with a laser which allows pets to be released same day as an outpatient. Not having to hospitalize my baby saved both of us a lot of stress. – E. Clary, Google Review
Moved to the area, took our 10-year-old cat there because of some intermittent issues keeping food down. The Vet was super transparent and discussed how we COULD do some expensive blood work, but would it reveal much? Settled on a cheap, easy, and safe de-worming pill which the Vet administered and saved me the hassle. The cat was cured and we saved some $. Amazing. Planning to take our dog and our other cat there for their routine care. Other staff are friendly and efficient. – Tyler M., Google Review
We love North Churton. They have taken great care of our dogs and cats. They are not pushy- but will provide recommended treatment and work with you to make the decisions. They were so accommodating to allow us to bring a 3rd dog in during our already scheduled appointment. A friendly, professional, caring group of vets and techs there! – Melissa C., Google Review
[During the COVID-19 Pandemic] Hello North Churton Animal Hospital! I just want to give you a huge shout out for a very organized and safe appointment visit. I had the pleasure of escorting one of my fury clients for his vaccination. Upon arrival I called the front desk to alert them that I have arrived. 2 wonderful Vet Techs gave me the option of coming inside or not. They came outside and administered the shot and he hopped right back into my car. A receipt can be emailed or printed. He was just as happy as ever, had a walk and now home napping. Thank you for such responsible & friendly service today. I have also left a review on my Facebook page from Jodi’s Affordable Pet Sitting & Dog Walking Hillsborough, NC. Enjoy a lunch break, you deserve it. – Jodi G., Facebook Recommendation
Dr. Miller and Dr. Leslie are wonderful caring people for our fur babies and their parents.

We have been taking our 3 kitties to North Churton Animal Hospital for nearly a decade (and our canine critters, before that, too), and they have always received excellent and compassionate care. The docs, as well as all of the staff are welcoming, helpful, and take time to explain veterinary diagnoses and procedures in terms that my husband and I can understand. The facilities are impeccably-clean and time spent in the waiting room is usually minimal. We truly appreciate the office staff’s patience, with our human issues, such as the need to reschedule appointments, when one or another of “the patients” goes into hiding and cannot be found, when it’s time for him/her to get into the crate and be taken to the doctor’s office!! –

Awesome care for our dogs. Very welcoming and knowledgeable. Got in the floor with our boy to love on and examine him so he was comfortable.

Since moving to the area three years ago, I have found the professionalism and attentive care provided by Dr. Leslie and Dr. Miller to be among the best my pets and I have ever received. I have a pack of five dogs and the entire staff at North Churton Animal Hospital knows each of them by name. I’ve come to NCAH for everything from routine vaccines to emergency surgery, and they have been thorough, comforting and precise every step of the way. ~

I needed cat food during hurricane Florence. My vet was closed but North Churton was open and graciously agreed to let me get some food from them (it is prescription, so I can’t buy it except at a vet). The lady was EXCEPTIONALLY nice and they did not have to help me, but thank goodness they did! Thank you for your kindness!! Highly recommended!!! ~

Doctor Miller spent time with my dog, he did not rush like I have experienced in the past with other veterinarians. The clinic was very clean and inviting. Every employee was kind and connected with my dog. You can tell they are animal lovers! I will definitely go back to this Vet with all my animals and make it their permanent Doctor.
We have 3 pets, so we spend a lot of time at the veterinary hospital. I would recommend this practice to anyone. They always make time for you, and everyone on the staff is first-rate. Very caring environment!
I was a vet tech for 5 years and since going back to school, struggled to find a clinic I trusted. Not only is North Churton Animal Hospital the best vet clinic I’ve ever taken my animals to, I’m constantly impressed by their consistent staffing. Both doctors are wonderful, caring, and fantastic with animals AND PEOPLE TOO 🙂 I can’t say enough good things about them!!!
“I recently moved back to the area and a friend of mine recommended North Churton Animal Hospital. She told me about the compassion and care her animals have received there. My husband recently passed, and I had to bring his cat in, and I was an emotional mess as well, but the staff was so incredibly caring and understanding, and I am so glad I found you. I was also blown away at how reasonably priced the services are.”
